Utah Sewing group meeting

Tomorrow a group of seamstresses are gathering at a local library to meet each other for the first time. I'm very excited.
We're to take projects to work on. Still trying to decide what I'm going to be doing.

Another day little accomplished, keep plugging on!

Ok, today I fixed a pair of slacks for my friend, and moved a closure on a formal for her daughter. Then I pressed the fabric for my dress. Measured to make sure I would have enough. I do. It's a rayon, not quite turqois blue with white flowers on it and some other design in tan. A little different, but I like it. I have no idea where I bought it, but it's about 4 years old or older. I am making it like one of the dresses I bought from Catherines, online last year.
First I have to make pintucks 3/8 inch deep and 3/4 inch apart. I need 16 of them on the front piece and 17 on the back. Yes I'm huge so it has to be too!
I measured the length I would need for each peice, 55 inches.
Then a thunderstorm hit and we unplugged the machines. I came up and exercised, fixed dinner and now am blogging. But it's 11pm and I guess too late to go back to the dungeon and sew. :(
Oh well, tomorrow is another day. But at least I got something accomplished today. Not much, but I'm getting there.

Weight loss this past month: 20 pounds. Yipee!

I'm learning Spanish for my job. I love it. I took it several years ago in college, but only one semester. I'm picking it up pretty easily. Thank goodness. We are going to be a global service center and Spanish will come in handy. AS will my French when I review it again. I've lost alot of it, but hopefully it will come back easily.

The sewing Mojo is back!

Ok, I've washed the fabric and changed my mind about what I"m making with it. I am going to pleat it then cut it out into a dress like the one's I bought from Catherines. They are so comfortable. So that's what I'm doing this evening. If I can find my sync chord I will take a picture of the one dress and fabric of the one i'm making. Wish me success!

Jon Schmidt

Jon Schmidt, I just listened to this and it is awesome. I'm not super familiar with him, but this is very good. Enjoy.

I am so bummed. The dress form came 5 days earlier than I planned. I was estatic. But then we opened it and it was missing the stand to put it on, it was missing a disk that holds the neck in place and the little dot on top of that piece as well. I was so unhappy. :(

This is what I am getting for my birthday. Maybe now I'll start sewing something.

I cut out a dress for my dgd, today is her birthday, but her mom worked so the birthday party is Sunday. I am working on a blessing dress for our great niece in Rigby, Id. I'm not getting very far very fast. Jeffrey is sick. He has a sore throat, cough and headache. I left work early to go pick him up from school, then we both slept for two hours. I think I might be getting it too. Jim will go to Idaho Saturday evening by himself. :( I need to be home with the sick one.

Well, we took in another animal...temporarily, I hope. It is a 6 yr old female chihuahua...named mama who doesn't like any of us, well she is warming up to Jeff. She keeps disappearing on him, she is so small. I think she will adapt. Her family had to give her up because Grandma got upset and threw her out in the cold. She wouldn't let her back in, so they had to find a home for her. I guess we are it.
Precious (the shitzu) is a little jealous and curious, but Mama growls at her, so she keeps her distance. I don't know how ASpen will react.....he's so friendly and loves other dogs...so we'll see. Jen, the daughter is going to come over (she was very upset) to see her often...they will be living about a mile or two away from us, so that will be nice. Hopefully we will all adapt.

I'm trying to get my sewing mojo back. I just can't pull it out of me. I love sewing so much, but I don't know why I can't force myself to go down and sew. I just don't know...maybe it is seasonal affect disorder......we'll see.
